The OSIRIS project aims to create a platform that allows the integration of information from both optical and SAR satellite images with AIS data provided directly by ships. Using the images we can identify the ships and calculate their position, the velocity in module and direction. On the basis of these extracted data, a route prediction is calculated, and associated with the AIS data in order to highlight anomalies.

TourPedia was born within the European OpenNER project (opener-project.eu) to collect information on attractions, restaurants, accommodation facilities, points of interest in various European locations, focusing on reviews written in multiple languages from which the general sentiment was analyzed. These informations has been extracted from Facebook, Foursquare, Booking and GooglePlaces, but for this very reason it cannot be shared. Currently the project has moved to open data provided by various government agencies, with the aim of creating a single dataset to be published as open data. In particular, through an always active procedure, the open data of the accommodation facilities provided by the various Italian regions are periodically downloaded. This data undergoes a sequence of data quality, data enrichment and data fusion actions.

The GeoMemories project was born from the collaboration between the IIT-CNR and the Aerofototeca Nazionale (AFN), a section of the Istituto Centrale per il Catalogo e la Documentazione (ICCD) based in Rome. AFN preserves millions of aerial images from numerous collections ranging from the early 1900s to today, a fundamental heritage of documentation of the Italian landscape of the last century. The background on which the IIT has operated consists mainly of aerial images taken by the Royal Air Force (RAF).
GeoMemories aims to make usable this extraordinary heritage, also soliciting active participation by users. Historical photos are superimposed on a layer that shows the current map of the territory in order to allow the evaluation of changes that have occurred over time with great ease and effectiveness.
The fields of application of the project are obviously manifold: they range from historical documentation to the search for archaeological evidence. It can also be used as an urban planning tool, as an aid to Civil Protection or to study the land consumption, with the possibility of welcoming and integrating results of urban, territorial, naturalistic researches, etc.
